Trio Sonnerie

Trio Sonnerie is one of the longest established and most highly regarded chamber groups in the world today. It was formed in 1982 by Monica Huggett, soloist and director of the Portland Baroque Orchestra in the States, the Irish Baroque Orchestra in Dublin, and until recently artistic director of the new Historical Performance Program at the Juilliard School in New York.

The group has performed extensively in most of the Early Music festivals in Europe, including in Innsbruck, Vantaa, Utrecht and the Lufthansa Festival in London. Their CD recordings are numerous, both in the trio format and as the larger group ‘Sonnerie’. The latest recording entitled ‘La Gamme’ of music by Marais and Forqueray, was released last year to critical acclaim by Linn Records.

In 2002 they won a Gramophone Award for best Baroque Instrumental group, and their CD of J S Bach’s Orchestral Suites won a Diapason D’Or in 2009 and was nominated for a Grammy.

Trio Sonnerie completed highly successful tours of the States in 2009, 2011 and 2012, visiting Arizona, Montana, San Diego, Los Angeles, Texas and New York, where they made their Carnegie Hall debut.
